USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna reportedly in talks with Borussia Monchengladbach as Dortmund exit appears imminent
Monchengladbach have opened discussions to sign USMNT midfielder, who has one year remaining on his Dortmund contract
Dortmund and USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna could be nearing a long-awaited exit, as Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach have opened discussions to secure his signature, according to The Athletic.
The disgruntled Reyna has been repeatedly linked with a move away, most recently reported to be leaving for Parma – although no deal transpired.
Reyna’s Dortmund tenure has been characterized largely by his lack of availability. The 22-year-old has started just 14 Bundesliga games since the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign, and has made 147 appearances since debuting in 2020.
Reyna became the youngest player to make 50 Bundesliga appearances, reaching the mark at 18 years and 14 days old.
How quickly talks accelerate remains to be seen, although it appears there is progress on a much-needed exit for a player who, despite injury, is still an immense talent.
Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino on loan.
The Athletic reported in the Transfer DealSheet that Anselmino had offers from Champions League and Europa League clubs outside the United Kingdom but will not go to Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that a loan move for Anselmino was being planned when asked by The Athletic at a press conference on Thursday. The club are prepared to let the 20-year-old go despite the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Levi Colwill that will rule him out for several months.
