It was a cracker of a game at The Emirates tonight, both for Arsenal and their new centre-forward Gabriel Jesus, who added to his goal tally within six minutes. Palace, however, were not to go down without a fight and equalised almost immediately through a brilliant curling effort from Ismaila Sarr.
Minutes later, Arsenal were back in front. The see-saw affair continued with Jesus again on hand to fire in a second for the hosts. The Brazilian would turn provider, though, around the half hour mark when Kai Havertz turned in his header that had bounced off the post.
He was again involved in what turned out to be the fourth goal for Arsenal as the rebound from his close-range effort fell to Declan Rice, whose effort was deflected in by Gabriel Martinelli. David Raya: Some shaky playing out from the back in the first half that landed Arsenal in trouble, but redeemed himself with some fine saves in the second period. 7.

William Saliba: Not his greatest day in office. True, it was a great finish by Sarr, but earlier engagement could have been put in. Very sloppy on the ball, too, almost conceding an goal with one mistake. 5.
Gabriel: Saw a header cannon off the bar for what would have been another goal. Defended quite well alongside Lewis-Skelly. 6.
Myles Lewis-Skelly: Given a torrid time by the opposing fans for perceived time-wasting but stood up to it well. Most 18-year-olds would have crumbled under such an onslaught, but he handled it well, for the most part. 6.
Thomas Partey: Some really sloppy moments in possession in the first half and was caught out of position for Sarr’s goal. Recovered to have a more assured second period. 6.
Martin Odegaard: Battled well in the Arsenal midfield and provided grit in a deeper role than usual.. Technically impressive as ever. 7.
Kai Havertz: Back in the midfield role and looked pretty good. Some movement deeper areas and got his reward for following in beyond Jesus with tap in. 7.
Bukayo Saka: Assisted excellently to score the opener and had to come off in the first half. It seemed like a muscular issue. Will hope that it’s not one of the serious ones. 7.
Gabriel Jesus: The Brazilian is well and truly back. For a while you had to wonder if anything he touched wouldn’t go in the net. Involved in all of Arsenal’s first four goals and it could have been more! 9.
Gabriel Martinelli: Moved over to the right hand side and looked more of a threat than in recent weeks. A good cross to create the second and a deserved stroke of luck with the goal. 8.
