COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced today that five veterans will lead the 2025 Ohio State Buckeyes as team captains: SAF Caleb Downs, LB Sonny Styles, OL Austin Siereveld and WR Bandon Inniss

Widely regarded as the best defensive player in college football, Downs’ impact on the Buckeyes last season was immediate. He was the Big Ten’s Woodson/Tatum Defensive Back of the Year and a unanimous first team All-American while totaling 82 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Styles is entering his second season as a full-time linebacker and will be a candidate for post-season honors in 2025, including All-America and Butkus Award recognition. He is the Buckeyes’ leading returning tackler, having accumulated 100 in 16 games last season, and will also wear the coveted Block “O” this fall.

Styles is an OSU Scholar-Athlete majoring in sport industry. He was Ohio State’s male nominee in Spring 2025 for the Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award for striving to have a positive impact in sports and within the community.

Siereveld was a stabilizing force along the offensive line last season, which was a group decimated by injury to two starters. He started six games – including two in the playoffs – and played a total of 499 snaps. His versatility allows him to play either guard or tackle.

Siereveld is majoring in sport industry and is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
