Alexander Ovechkin tops the New York Rangers’ dream teammate roster with Sidney Crosby and Jaromír Jágr
The New York Rangers have been connected with some of the biggest names in hockey.
Through past teammates and career overlaps, a fantasy “all-teammate” roster has been built. The exercise imagines what the Rangers’ lineup would look like if every current player could bring one former teammate to Madison Square Garden. The results are eye-catching.
Washington Capitals legend Alexander Ovechkin is the highlight of the Rangers’ top unit. He earns his spot through forward Taylor Raddysh, who played with him last season in Washington. Ovechkin, hockey’s greatest goal scorer, lines up with Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
Crosby is linked through Conor Sheary, a Rangers training camp invite who won two Stanley Cups with him in Pittsburgh.
Rounding out the top trio is Jaromír Jágr. The Czech legend connects to New York through Vincent Trocheck, who began his career with Jágr on the Florida Panthers. That leaves the Rangers’ fantasy top line as Ovechkin, Crosby, and Jágr, three of the most recognizable names in NHL history.
Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov headline the second unit for the New York Rangers
The second line is just as loaded. Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid joins the roster through forward Sam Carrick, who was briefly traded to Edmonton. His playmaking, combined with Tampa Bay Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov, was added via former Ranger J.T. Miller.
