Borussia Dortmund deem Chelsea’s Renato Veiga too expensive
Fabrizio Romano reports that Borussia Dortmund made an approach for Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, as they urgently need numbers in the position.
With Emre Can and Niklas Süle joining Nico Schlotterbeck on the sidelines injured, Dortmund only have one fit centre-back – Waldemar Anton.
This has prompted them to look for additional numbers in defence. Dortmund made an approach to Chelsea about the Portugal international’s future and a potential bid, but they ultimately deemed the defender too expensive. Sky Germany reports that only a loan for Veiga would be feasible.
Another name that Dortmund are considering is Juan Gimenez. The 19-year-old plays for Rosario, and negotiations with the Argentine side are ongoing, with Rosario demanding €5-8m.
Dortmund are still very active in the transfer market, despite the fact that they will open their season on Monday against Rot-Weiß Essen in the DFB Pokal. Die Schwarzgelben are looking for another striker as well as adding depth to midfield. According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, AC Milan have now intensified their effort to get the deal done, and they will face competition from German club Borussia Dortmund as well. Hojlund is keen on the move this summer.
It will be interesting to see if the German club decides to step up their pursuit of the player after AC Milan intensify their move for him.
