Ohio State’s Ryan Day Reveals Major News Regarding Quarterback Competition
The Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day are set to begin their 2025 season on August 30 against the Texas Longhorns. Right off the bat, the defending champions will face a massive test.As of right now, Ohio State still hasn’t announced who its starting quarterback is going to be.
Throughout the offseason, Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz have been battling for the job. To this point, neither player has been able to take command and become the clear-cut guy for Day and the Buckeyes.
With the start of the season so close, Ohio State will need to make a decision soon. Day knows that the deadline is coming quickly for him to make a choice.
During an interview with Big Ten Network, as shared by Eleven Warriors, Day spoke out about needing to make a choice and revealed somewhat of a timeline for a decision.
“I’d like to see them continue to compete throughout this week, maybe into next week. But you’d like to have an idea of who that guy’s going to be for at least a couple weeks heading into the first game,” Day said.
As noted by Eleven Warriors, a possible date for a quarterback announcement from Day could be August 18.
Neither quarterback has much college football experience. Both Sayin and Kienholz have played very limited roles in their respective careers.
