Clemson-LSU opener ranks as one of ACC’s hottest tickets

It’s almost college football time, and the demand for the big-time matchups is heating up.

According to Sportscasting.com, Clemson’s season opener against LSU ranks as the second-most expensive ticket in the ACC this year, with a get-in price of $314 on the secondary market.

The ACC Tigers are currently listed as a 3.5-point favorite over their SEC opponent.

The only ACC game with a higher price tag is Alabama vs. Florida State, which checks in at $363

Oddsmakers have the Crimson Tide as 13.5-point favorites against the Seminoles. Hopefully, Florida State can keep it somewhat close to make it an entertaining matchup for fans.

Also landing in the top five of the priciest ACC tickets were Notre Dame @ Miami ($250), Notre Dame @ Boston College ($244), and Georgia Tech vs. Georgia ($212).

LSU students will be using new technology to get into Tiger sporting events this fall as the university works to to eliminate fraud, the athletics department said this week.

The change means that students will no longer be able to use screenshots of tickets on their phones to get into games.

The use of what’s called “near field communication,” wireless technology that works for very close range interactions — say when a student presents their ticket at the gate, using their phone — is already being used at LSU baseball games and will expand to all sports this fall, said Zach Greenwell, chief communications officer for LSU Athletics.
