Mick Jagger’s girlfriend defends 44-year age gap

Age, it seems, is just a number when it comes to Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger.

National Ballet of Japan’s former ballerina, Hamrick, does not bother at all with the 44-year age difference with the Rolling Stones rockstar Mick Jagger, who turned 81 years old last July.

“I don’t examine that. Everybody’s entitled to their own thoughts,” she said in an interview with The Times. “If you think about what other people think and wherever you’re at in life, that’s going to be an issue, and you’re going to dwell on it.”

To which Hamrick responded, “Most importantly I ask myself. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people around me happy? Yes. Am I causing any pain or harm to anybody? No. Then, good, let them keep away from me.”

The pair crossed paths for the first time in February 2014 at the Tokyo stop of the Rolling Stones tour.

In the same year in March, Jagger’s long-term partner, the fashion designer L’Wren Scott, committed suicide. After Scott’s death, Jagger also penned how he was ‘difficult to process how my lover and best friend could kill herself in such tragic circumstances.’

After a few months, she started dating Hamrick.

Two years later Hamrick gave birth to their child, Deveraux ‘Devi’ Octavian Basil Jagger, who is Jagger’s eight child out of five women.

Jagger also has other children, including daughter Karis with actress Marsha Hunt, daughter Jade with ex-wife Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel, all with Jerry Hall, as well as son Lucas with Luciana Gimenez Morad.
