“I need THREE of them at Man United”: Man United’s incoming coach Ruben Amorim has named three things he need to the club back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s era
Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is ready for the big challenge ahead.
Manchester United have been a machine that chews up and spits out talented managers over the past decade.
Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Manchester United have been a shadow of the club that set standards up the great Scotsman, and Ruben Amorim is Manchester United’s latest swing for the fences.
Amorim has already been asked whether he fears the ‘instability’ at Manchester United, while he last week suggested he feels a need to challenge himself at a higher level.
Amorim drive for success
Ruben Amorim is very driven, this should be obvious considering he is set to become the Manchester United head coach at just the age of 39.
Amorim’s interest in testing himself is not just a curiosity to see how he fares, he wants to be front and centre on the biggest stage.
Speaking to TNT Sports, he explained he is prepared for challenges on a weekly basis, which is not always the case in Portugal.
Amorim explained: “The best coaches and the best teams are in England. It will be a different world because in Portugal you have three teams and then many weeks where you have difficult games but you control them. It is a different world there and I need that as a coach now.”
He admits that leaving Sporting will not be easy, although he is ready for it.
Amorim added: “I know, even from my experience as a player, that in this life we have to change our environment several times, but I am very emotional in my relationship with the players and the staff. I have a connection with them.”
Manchester United need Amorim energy and ideas
Being Manchester United head coach is not an easy task. A real mixture of managers have come and gone in the post-Fergie era, some who have had considerable success elsewhere in their careers.
The pressure at Old Trafford is like no other, and Amorim’s energy and enthusiasm is exactly what the team and fanbase needs.
Amorim has his own tactical ideas, and while he may have to make some adaptations, he will be expected to stick to his principles.
United need Amorim’s combination of new ideas, and determination to succeed. At the very least, he will take the team forward from rock bottom. How far he can get, is another matter.
