Breaking:QB reportedly taking the lead in the race for the starting job

The Ohio State football team continues to have some important positional battles as training camp starts to heat up. No positional battle is more important than the one at quarterback, which is between Julian Sayin and Linocln Kienholz. Both of them believe they can win the job.

It has been a back-and-forth affair since Spring practice. At times, it looked like Sayin was going to win the job without too many issues. At other times, Kienholz looked like the better quarterback. Consistency is what Day is looking for from his quarterbacks before he names a starter.

After a strong third day of Fall camp, the Ohio State Buckeyes might have an official leader in the clubhouse for that starting job. Sayin had a stellar day, potentially opening up the possibility that he is named the starter in a couple of weeks, which is when Day likely will make the final call.

Sayin’s job is a lot easier when he can throw the ball to guys like Jeremiah Smith. Smith is the best player in college football, so it doesn’t really matter which quarterback is throwing him the ball. He’s going to make it so that he’s a playmaker no matter what.

It’s still very early in Fall camp, but Sayin was always expected to win this job. With how well he reportedly looked on Saturday, he’s got a chance to open up a lead that he won’t relinquish to Kienholz for the rest of the preseason.

As things stand, the Ohio State football team holds a pair of 5-star commitments for the 2026 class. Wideout Chris Henry Jr. and safety Blaine Bradford are on board. Henry is locked in with the Buckeyes, cancelling other visits.

However, there’s no question that Bradford is on ‘flip watch’ leading up to the new season, as the LSU Tigers continue to work overtime in trying to get him to change his mind. The buzz that LSU could pull that off is only continuing to grow this weekend.
