State Champion Quarterback Sets Tennessee Visit For Rivalry Game in Knoxville

The Vols’ Week 3 matchup against SEC rival Georgia is sure to draw a number of highly touted visitors, but we now have confirmation of one who will be on Rocky Top for the game.

According to a report from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong on Tuesday, Tennessee will host class of 2027 four-star quarterback Israel Abrams for the Vols’ SEC opener against Georgia on Sept. 13. He’ll also be taking a visit to Iowa State for its matchup against Iowa and a trip to Northwestern at some point in the season.

During that year, Abrams took over as the starter during the season. He ended up throwing for 2,033 yards and 29 touchdowns, while also adding 335 yards on the ground. Abrams threw just three interceptions while completing 63.8% of his passes.

According to Rivals’ rankings, Abrams is listed as a four-star prospect. He also comes in as the No. 95 player overall, the No. 6 quarterback in the class, and the No. 5 player from the state of Illinois. 247Sports’ rankings are even higher on the 2027 prospect, listing him as the No. 60 player and the No. 5 quarterback in the cycle.

Well-built frame throughout and an elastic mover for his size,” 247’s Cooper Petagna wrote of Abrams in an April evaluation.
