“I heard the board talking about a new striker and i….”- Arsenal man Gabriel Jesus RESPONDS to the secret behind his recent goalscoring form following a 5-1 trashing of Crystal Palace

JESUS ON ARSENAL 5-1 WIN AT PALACE- IT’S NICE TO BE BACK IN THE TEAM
“Gabriel Jesus noted how great it is to be back playing regular football at Arsenal, and added that there is little doubt in his mind about scoring goals as long as he’s in the right positions in the box.”
Days after scoring a hat-trick against the Eagles via the Carabao Cup, the Brazil international all but confirmed his confidence by earning a brace of goals as Arsenal trampled Crystal Palace, 5-1.
“Of course, he was asked about the match by Sky Sports, as follows; on winning the game significantly…”
Yeah, obviously, I think the first goal was very important, early. The way we start the game, the whole team was really ready to play well, to fight. They have a strong team, they have quality players, we know it’s always difficult to come here. We did the job, obviously, I’m really happy on the goals. As a nine, I understand the pressure’s on to score goals, I could score again today, so, yeah, I’m happy. The win, the three points was massive today.
On scoring five goals against Palace in a week’s time….
To be honest, I am someone who likes to work hard. I know my qualities; I know that I can score, like I said after the match against Palace, though it’s a bit easy to say after scoring in a game, in my mind, I know I can score; I just need to put myself in a good position to finish the action, like when I could have more chances today.
“I put in two but missed one, but still play with a smile on my face and it’s all different. I’m trying to keep my mind strong and try to help the team and put myself in good positions. That’s me, help the team, defend, cover the ball but I understand I have to be more in the box to finish the action.
On his goals…
Good play by the team, and then it was a great job by [Gabi] Magalhaes because he hold the defender and I screamed at him to leave the ball, he helped me, blocked-a very important move from him. After [for the second], Thomas [Partey] played a great ball and I finished the action. I scored, but the guys were really important to create chances as well. On how good it is being back sharp. Like I said, it is good to be back in the team, doing more with the squad. Obviously, like I said after the last game, I always worked very hard to try to get discussions and play. At the same time, I know I’m experienced enough, still young but I have been here like eight years, so I know when a player is playing always, it is different, confidence, legwork changes somehow.
Well, he gives me more chances at the moment but ultimately it’s down to me to place myself really well to get an opportunity to score. This is Arsenal, a very huge club, so I certainly know the pressure is on the number nine to score. Keep trying to help the team with the goals, that is it.
I think Kai [Havertz] is an amazing player, a prolific scorer, so from that point of view, I think Arsenal are doing really well. I am very happy to be back with a net and just want to keep scoring. A new baby coming… I deeply believe in God. I am really sure that if there were no God, then I would certainly not be here; I mean, at what part of life I became a professional, I put it at 17, 18.
At first, because I am around my 16th year in the academy of Palmeiras, I would say I have seen here, Ethan [Nwaneri] with us. I’ve seen playing streets in my place in Brazil at that age, Sao Paulo, and I believed really much in God, and he is doing wonderful with me now again.
He feels great with God now again.
Indeed, God is great, and he has opened doors for fatherhood again. I enjoy it. I just want to go home with my wife and daughter, and soon there will be another one in like six months. That is God. I can’t complain; I say thank you to God; he is great in my life.
