“CHEATED ARSENAL AGAIN??!!”- Premier league controversy strikes again as Joao Pedro would have missed Brighton’s clash with Arsenal if this had been given

After elbowing Yehor Yarmolyuk in the goalless draw between Brighton and Brentford at night on Friday, Joao Pedro will not face a red card or suspension.

Pedro tried to sprint clear of Yarmolyuk who was pulling at his shoulder and shirt during the second half forward before that incident.

The frustrated Pedro then stopped and swung his right elbow toward his opponent, again narrowly missing the Brentford midfielder.

The match was stopped by referee Andy Madley, who did show Yarmolyuk a yellow card.

However, VAR referee Chris Kavanagh reviewed the incident and said that Madley had not made a clear and obvious error with his decision not to punish Pedro for it.

“I’ve seen it; I think it’s a red card,” said Brentford manager Thomas Frank after the game.

“You cannot swing your arm like that; it’s like if you want to punch someone or swing your arm like that, hit or no hit, in the way I understand the laws, it’s a red card.”

“I know it will not ever be easy to get everything right, so we will just have to have a good debate about it.”

“I was drunk on the penalty,” he wrote.

“The referee’s call of no red card to Joao Pedro for violent conduct was checked and confirmed by VAR, who deemed that the referee’s call was not clear and obviously wrong,” the statement read.
