SpringBok backs make Top 100 Round Two

SPOTLIGHT: Round Two of the Official Top 100 Men’s Rugby Players of 2024 by Rugbypass has been publicly unveiled on Thursday.
While the first batch of players from 100 down to 81 has revealed his top block on Wednesday, two more Bok stars are on list number between 80 and 61.
Among those who has had no single test match for the Springboks in 2024, Number 73 is rung in by Damian Willemse, while 10 spots higher sits his Springbok teammate, Jesse Kriel, at 63.
Criticism has once been met by Kriel for being very one-dimensional in play and not so flashy like teammate Lukhanyo Am, but came up to the fore brilliantly in the Sharks centre’s absence during World Cup 2023 and continued this excellent run into 2024 to earn himself a spot in World Rugby’s dream team.
He is amongst those players that ranked better than Ramos of France, Taylor of New Zealand, and Graham of Scotland, even with no game in the 2024 season due to injury.
The versatile back appeared to be playing well for the Stormers against Munster at No.10 before suffering a groin strain against Glasgow Warriors, ruling him out for the Boks’ November tour.
The only other name that stands out is Australia breakout rookie star Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii at No.68 with just four Test matches behind him. New Zealand’s Damian Mckenzie is ranked two spots higher at No.66.
The other big names are Tadhg Furlong (80), Cam Roigard (72) and Garry Ringrose (71).
