The news is that Cardiff wing Iwan Stephen has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury suffered in training.
The in-form wing has suffered a setback in last week’s training and is now scheming for surgery leading to extensive rehabilitation.
Ed Byrne and Ben Donnell are due to be out of action for a number of months after they got injuries during the 31-23 victory over the Dragons.
Cardiff Head Coach Matt Sherratt said: “Iwan has done his ACL, which is a tough one. He will be out for the rest of the season.
“It was pretty innocuous which is always the worst one. He just stepped and heard a pop. He’s been brilliant so it’s a tough one but he will get back.

“He injured his hamstring and is going to be some time away in recovery. Ben Donnell injured his elbow and is a bit more long-term than we hoped.”
Meanwhile, it was better news for Mackenzie Martin, while Taulupe Faletau is also nearing his return after a long wait. “[Mackenzie] Martin isn’t long-term. It was just a bump on the shoulder and will be a matter of weeks. Toby is not far away; it won’t be this week, but it’s on the horizon.
Sherratt also updated about Rory Jennings, who was removed just a few minutes after having made his way on to the pitch last weekend. He added: “Rory was visibly in trouble so it rightly takes you back a stage in the protocol. At first, he was pretty unsteady on his feet, but he felt fine after the game.” I feel for him a little bit this week as it was a chance for him to have a go.
This successfully gets Jennings through the World Rugby return-to-play protocols.
